Keeping your calendar up to date is essential for making a good first impression on pet owners. One of the most frustrating experiences for them is contacting a carer who shows as available, only to find they are not. When your calendar is accurate, you’re more likely to accept requests that fit your schedule, improving your chances of getting more bookings in the future.

Pet owners might request services with varying notice, from last-minute requests like “I need a carer this weekend” to bookings months in advance. Since requests can come at any time, keeping your calendar up to date is key.

Calendar Basics

Your availability is based on the days and services you selected when you first created your carer profile.

The calendar in Floofy uses different colours to show your availability:

  • White: Fully available (no bookings).
  • Yellow: Partially booked.
  • Red: Fully booked.
  • Grey with diagonal slashes: Unavailable.

Updating Your Calendar

If you need to update your availability (e.g. for a holiday), follow these steps:

  1. Click on the day you want to edit or drag across multiple dates to edit them at once.
  2. A pop-up window will appear where you can adjust your availability for each service. Select Save or, if you’re unavailable for all services, choose Mark all services as unavailable. To reset the number of spaces available to your default, click Reset to default.

Your changes will now show on your calendar.

Additional Recommendations

When starting, offer a few services with limited spaces, increasing capacity as you gain experience. Consider the following:

  • What services can you realistically offer? If you marked several services but can only provide one or two, update your offerings to avoid turning away incompatible requests.
  • How many pets can you comfortably care for? Start with fewer pets until you feel confident. You can update your preferences to reflect how many pets you’d like to care for at once.

Note: If you frequently don’t book requests for dates you’ve marked as available, some of your services may automatically switch to “Away” mode. Keeping your calendar updated will help keep your profile active.
